The EDAS-1010T-1 Analog I/O Panel accommodates up to 8 analog I/O channels in any combination of inputs or outputs.

Conditioned and non-conditioned channels can be mixed on the panel. The panel accepts any of the 5B Series isolated signal conditioning blocks so isolation/conditioning can be performed on any of the channels.

 On channels where isolation/conditioning is not desired, the 5B socket can be bypassed by inserting two jumpers.

The panel interfaces to a data acquisition system through a standard-density 50-pin connector. The panel also includes a 34-pin and 50-pin expansion connector to allow additional EDAS-1010T-1 and EDAS-1011T-1 panels to be cascaded.

EDAS-1011T-1 Digital I/O Panel


The EDAS-1011T-1 Digital I/O Panel accommodates up to 8 digital I/O channels in any combination of inputs or outputs.

Conditioned and non-conditioned channels can be mixed on the panel. The panel accepts any of the PCI-1100 Series Digital Opto-Isolator blocks, and on channels where isolation is not desired, the opto-isolator socket can be bypassed by inserting two jumpers.

The panel interfaces to a data acquisition system through a standard-density 34-pin or 50-pin connector, and also includes a 34-pin expansion connector for cascading of additional EDAS-1011T-1 panels.

5B Series Overview



Intelligent Instrumentation's PCI-5B series is a family of low-cost, high-performance signal conditioning products for analog input/output signals. The product line includes: signal conditioning blocks (or modules) that interface with a variety of external sensors (including voltage, current, thermocouple, strain-gage, and RTD inputs), compatible termination panels, rack-mount enclosures, and a 5V power supply.

Each PCI-5B block provides a single channel of isolated analog input or output. The input blocks accept signals from external sources, then filter, isolate, amplify, and convert these signals to high-level analog voltage outputs. Output blocks produce 0 to 20mA or 4 to 20mA current loop signals from voltage inputs for a variety of control applications.

The PCI-5B blocks employ transformer isolation to offer a high level of safety when interfacing computer systems to external equipment processes. The isolation barrier and protection devices prevent damage to expensive control room equipment. Common-mode voltages up to 1500Vrms and up to 240V differential can be safely applied. Isolation also prevents troublesome ground loops, which can disrupt the measured signal.

Superior performance is provided by these industry-standard blocks in several areas:

Features common to all PCI-5B signal conditioning blocks include 1500Vrms continuous common-mode voltage isolation, ANSI/IEEE C37.90.1-1989 transient protection, and chopper-based amplification, which assures low drift (±1mV/°C) and excellent long-term stability. All blocks include six poles of filtering, providing 95dB of normal mode rejection (NMR) at 60Hz to minimize noise above 4Hz. Also all blocks are hard potted and are identical in pin-out and size (2.28" x 2.26" x 0.6"), which allows you to mix and match different input types on the same termination panel.


1100 Series Overview



Intelligent Instrumentation provides several digital input and output modules and accessories providing safe, reliable interfacing to industrial test, measurement and control applications. When installed near individual field loads, our PCI-1100 series I/O modules create a rugged protective isolation barrier, effective to 4kV, between the field and your PC-based Data Acquisition system. Use of these modules can also reduce field wiring costs while establishing an economical, manageable approach for system expansion and repair.

The PCI-1100 Series are digital, optically isolated, signal conditioning blocks. A separate opto-block is used for each channel, allowing complete I/O flexibility. The twelve different opto-blocks are divided into two groups: standard and slimline.

All input models accept both AC and DC voltages. Each provides a TTL output to drive a standard digital input. Different models are provided for AC and DC outputs. These units convert TTL outputs from the data acquisition system to switch higher voltage (and current) load. The DC output devices present an open collector NPN transistor to the load. The AC output units contain zero crossing circuitry and switch their loads with triacs.

Various combinations of the available opto-blocks can be intermixed on one termination panel. However, each contiguous group of eight channels must contain only input or output opto-blocks. This is because the digital channels on Intelligent Instrumentation Data Acquisition plug-in I/O boards, USB portable and EDAS Ethernet I/O systems, and option modules are programmable as inputs or outputs in byte-size (8 channels) units.
