TM8701 Typical Applications

Labor Reporting

A TM8701 is rugged enough to survive in any industrial environment, even in a machine shop. Terminals placed at strategic locations allow employees to clock in and out, or to log on and off jobs quickly and easily. The information is accurate to the second and the terminal's convenient location eliminates wasted employee time walking back and forth to a terminal in a "clean" area.

Machine Monitoring

Using the machine-monitoring option, the same TM8701 that reports expended labor also controls and reports the status of the machines an operator is working with. One person is now able to control more than one machine. Data such as production quantity, cycle times, and downtime analysis are collected by the terminal for use locally or by the host computer.

Work In Process

From each workstation, the TM8701 terminal automatically reports when materials move into or out of that workstation. Real-time data collection from the source is invaluable in tracking materials and work in process. The TM8701 decreases the direct labor expended looking for missing jobs by providing up-to-the-minute information on the location of every job on the shop floor. In addition, it provides management with the tools necessary to reduce cycle times and in turn decrease the inventory in work in process.

Shipping

The environmentally rugged TM8701 is ideal for placement at shipping docks to provide accurate tallies of items received and items shipped. It confirms that the correct goods are sent to the correct destination. Use of the TM8701 also eliminates the need for manual checks of goods in departing vehicles to ensure complete shipments.
