Associate Technical Director —

Emphasis on leading technical teams and architecting solutions in immersive technology.

You're an expert in architecting and executing end to end technical solutions in focused in digital spaces to lead the development process of innovative applications from prototyping through to production. You’re a master of your craft but you’d rather set the vision and set your team up for success than do it all yourself. You’re a leader and visionary who can flex between coding, leading a team, and communicating with clients.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect comprehensive full-stack builds for a variety of digital experiences and environments
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams in the creation of applications and experiences
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Articulate your approach clearly to both your team and clients
  • Bring a point of view and informed opinions on platforms and code/styling solutions to evolve Instrument’s digital presence into the future
  • Manage the development process for projects
  • Support team leadership in pitches and project scoping
  • Mentor and support mid-level and junior devs
  • Work with internal and external teams to scope and implement features

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in development or 3+ years’ experience in technical direction in a digital agency environment
  • Ability to present your work clearly and passionately
  • Collaboration, flexibility, hustle, humility, confidence
  • Experience leading the release of multiple successful applications (mobile, AR/VR, installations, Web)
  • Strong prototyping ethos and experience in transitioning prototypes into products
  • Experience in the following: Frontend and Backend Web Development, Native Mobile Development, Generative Art, Computational Animations, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction
  • Familiarity with architectural approaches and pitfalls
  • Experience working at the intersection of Interaction Design and development
