Feeld
Instrument partnered with Feeld’s design team in a deeply collaborative, iterative process—working side-by-side to reimagine the app and craft an experience that reflects the fluid sexuality and relationships of its members.
The Challenge
Feeld had reimagined its brand with a bold new strategy and visual identity, but the product experience hadn’t yet evolved to match. In close partnership with Feeld, we translated the visual and art direction into an intuitive, expressive app experience rooted in curiosity, fluidity, and transformation.
Listening Deeply, Designing With Intention
While traditional dating apps optimize for swipes and surface-level matches, Feeld members seek community and self-discovery on their own terms. Usability testing revealed that connection on Feeld isn’t linear—it’s exploratory. Members move fluidly between profiles, identities, and conversations, resisting prescribed paths.
That insight defined the strategy: build for fluidity over funnels. We moved away from rigid interaction models and developed flexible, open-ended patterns that foster meaningful engagement and reinforce autonomy.

Guiding New Members With Clarity and Care
Feeld promises a space for self-discovery and non-traditional connections, but new members were overwhelmed with an unfamiliar world of communities and desires.
Working hand-in-hand with Feeld’s team, we redesigned onboarding to gently guide members into the world of Feeld. Glossary Cards demystified gender and sexuality terminology, while Shared Desires introduced kinks and preferences through a more visual, intuitive interface, helping members discover common ground before initiating connection.
Designing a Product That Feels Like Feeld
Feeld’s vibrant, expressive nature was brought into every touchpoint—loading states that breathe, gestures that reward curiosity, and transitions that celebrate moments of connection. Each interaction was crafted not just to function, but to reinforce the brand’s ethos of fluidity, discovery, and intimacy.
Translating a Pointed Style Guide into a UI Kit
Building from Feeld’s product style guide, we collaboratively expanded the design language to feel more expressive and cohesive across the app. Drawing inspiration from the tension between hard edges and organic curves in Feeld’s custom typeface, “gloops” were introduced—a distinctive motif integrated across buttons, controls, and iconography.
The Impact
Together with Feeld’s leadership team, we transformed the product into a unified, scalable system—embedding the renewed brand directly into its architecture. Alongside net-new features that deepen meaningful connection, fragmented patterns were replaced with a cohesive foundation designed to scale across platforms.
The result is a product experience that feels intentional at every level: strategically aligned, operationally efficient, and unmistakably Feeld.
